There’s a lot you can do with Core Animation that doesn’t require a design tool, but once you get into any non-trivial transforms it is too cost-prohibitive to do them by hand for long. While I’m a programmer mainly with some basic design skills, I found this tool to be easy for even someone of my background to craft some pretty decent animations. I can imagine a professional designer could do some stunning work. This application is not without room for improvement, but in a field with very little competition, it adds a lot of value over hand-coding. Keep in mind that the functionality here is currently focused mainly on the needs of games with lots of image assets. While it can support custom-drawn views, like you might get get PaintCode, it requires some amount of massaging of the generated code to integrate the two. Four stars for now because I’d like to see this application grow a bit to provide more flexibility in non-gaming apps, but still it is very good.

The long waiting app now is here. It is easy to use, and the generated code is clear and highly reusable. Two years ago, when I first encountered the Hype, one of the best HTML 5 Animation App, I was wondering that if one could make this kind of App for CoreAnimation, that would be wonderful. Now the Dream comes true. This is a good start, but I think there are something more this App can do in the future: 1: Affine Transform 2: Default AppKit/UIKit UI Element animation support. 3: Direct CALayer , CAShapeLayer support

Can’t Wait

A much needed tool filling a fairly large hole. I can’t wait to see what our team does with this.

Downloaded and made animation in 2 minutes. Exported it in 5 seconds. The UI is exactly the way you want/expect it to be. There’s really nothing else to say. I wish I could pay the developer in some of my now-free time.

Only played with it for a few days but it works very well. I reaaly like the code intergration feature. What I would like to see is a public repository with things people have done to give me more ideas :) Looking forward to having this in my tool box. FYI I have a ton of tool look at all my reviews so I’m not some guy just BS’ing around.

Constantly crashing

Not a stable application crashes very often. Even crashes on Save.

Great Application

This is the application I want for a long time.

Coming from an animation background I found this app to be very intuitive. I was up and running within minutes ,creating real animations. There are a few features I’d like added like a full graph editor and a few tweaks to the UI to make it behave more like a traditional timeline/keyframe based animation application but nothing that prevents it from being used in production today. The developers are very responsive too. The generated code has gotten the seal of approval by several developers I’ve talked to. It’s been very stable on my Air running Yosemite.

This is one of those things that once you have it, you can’t imagine how you got along before… or how nobody thought of this before! The UI is exceptionally simple. The exported code is easy to read and use. This app has only been out a few weeks and it has a lot of potential to expand capabilities and functionality, but even as is, it has completely changed the way I go about making apps. It makes the process FUN again. One of the features that I hope gets implemented soon is integration with SpriteKit.

Really useful for doing simple UI animation! Simple and easy to learn UI. Heavy users may miss some features though: snap to pixel/pts (for pixel-perfect beauty =D); copying-pastings animations; resizing bounding box sizes; easier way to edit and replace images; maybe choose the content mode you want for each object, etc.

Very confusing

It is extrememly confusing as to how to use this app to incorporate meaningful features into an xcode project.

I’d highly recommend this to all developers whether you’re experienced or just starting out. It took me no time to create my first animation and implement it into my app without any headache. The possibilites for this app are only limited by the users ability to imagine new ways to animate objects. Best $99 i’ve spent in a long time and anybody who is having a hard time deciding I’d recommend you check out the developers site and you’ll see why it’s so easy to give your money for such an amazing product. Cheers!

Simple. Effective.

Surprisingly straightforward to add nice looking animations to my app. Well done!

HKS5 · 10 years ago

The animation is easy to create and very user friendly. I strongly recommend to anyone that wants to create animation for their apps. At first I had problems, I emailed the developers and immediately got a response and they helped me through the process. Some of the best customer support I’ve ever seen.

Great for designers

I highly recommend this!

I have high hopes that this application will someday work like it’s intended to. Until then, the number of UI bugs it has makes it extremely frustrating to use. To the developer’s credit, they’ve been fixing them one at a time, but it seems like each time they fix a bug, four more issues pop up. Hopefully, they can get their act together and finish this software properly, because I think it has great potential to be a serious tool.

Very good and interesting software. I love the features and all. However, i just recently moved to native and paint code 2 has native capiablites like C# support so im wondering when will core animator will have this C# exportation as well. Other than that i will move my 4 to a 5 if that happens. :P
